He´s not only the Director of the upcoming featurefilm War of the dead but the Director of INDICAs Musicvideos for the Songs Vuorien taa and Pidä kädestä. Marko Mäkilaakso took some time for us to travel back in time and tell us more about his work on the videos! Would you like to introduce yourself and your work to our readers?

Marko : My name is Marko Mäkilaakso. I am a director of music videos, commercials and feature films. What are you currently working on?

Marko : I just finished the post-production of an action / horror film which I directed and now I am starting to prep my next film. When did you first take notice /see / hear about Indica?

Marko : When I lived in Finland - I heard about Indica many times on TV and radio, so I was very familiar with their music. What was the initial idea that inspired you for the videos?

Marko : Like with all my music videos, the ideas come from listening the song and sometimes the band and label bring more ideas to the table.
Indica band knows what they want with their music videos and this was the case also with the two videos I directed for them. Do you personally like Indicas music and if so, is there a favorite Song?

Marko : I do like their music. I have to say that "Vuorien taa" is my favorite song. Not because I made the video, but because it's a really cool song! Was there any funny circumstances/happenings during the shots you´d like to share with us?

Marko : It's been so long since I made the videos that my memory is not serving me enough to pin point any particular circumstances, but I personally enjoyed very much making "Vuorien taa" video, that was fun I think for all of us. "Pidä kädestä" was done too fast with too little money and I didn't focus on that enough because I was very busy with other projects at that time, so my memory of that shoot isn't that great. I am sure the girls were freezing on both shoots, because it was pretty cold during the making of these videos. What are the stories behind the videos from your point of view?

Marko : Both videos are more about images than stories. To capture the spirit of the song was the main thing. Everyone can tell their own story while watching them. Did the Ladies themselves add ideas to the videos and if so which?

Marko : Yes, like I mentionen earlier, the girls were very much involved with the ideas of both videos. In pre meetings they told me what they would like etc and I tryed to incorporate those ideas to the treatment I made. The concept for "Pidä kädestä" video came from the ladies. What is your personal opinion on the videos as well as the songs?

Marko : I like "Vuorien taa" video. I think it looks and feels good. I don't like so much "Pidä kädestä kii", to be honest, it's the worst video I have directed. But I do like both of the songs, otherwise I would have not made them in the first place. How would you describe your work/time you´ve spend with the Ladies?

Marko : I enjoyed working with Indica. It was fun and creative! Where did you find the location for the videos ?

Marko : "Vuorien taa" video was shot exactly at the same location where I did (during the same time) my Emma awarded video for band called Uniklubi. I found it while scouting for both videos. The place was not far from Helsinki. For the other video, the location was very close to the center of Helsinki. What would you like to say to all Indica Fans in the world?

Marko : It's great that you all keep supporting Indica! And I know the band respects and appreciates that! Thank you! Thank you very much for this exciting interview, Marko!
